Minulla on ollut viimeisen parin vuoden aikana neljä iriittiä, se oli itse asiassa yksi syy siihen, miksi reuma-asioita alettiin alunperin tutkimaankin. Joten olen oppinut jo siitä, että jos silmä kipeytyy, niin äkkiä silmälääkäriin.
Tänään silmä oli jo sen verran kipeä, että visiitti Silmäpolin päivystykseen oli edessä. Dg oli lasiaisen irtoaminen, silmässä on lisäksi myös verenvuotoa, joten nyt sitten sain käskyn painella viivana heti takaisin, jos näköhäiriöitä alkaa tulla lisää, koska se voi indikoida verkkokalvon repeytymistä. *Huokaus*
Netistä luin, että tämä voi liittyä Sjögreniin, ts että silmien kuivuus ja muut ongelmat ikäännyttävät meidän SS-ihmisten silmää niin, että nämä yleensä ikääntyviä koskevat ongelmat saattavat iskeä meihin jo paljon nuorempana.
Onko muilla mitään kokemuksia tai lisätietoa tämän yhteydestä Sjögreniin?

Sometime ago I noticed black spots in my vision, in my right eye. When ever I'd get up at night, I'd also experience ligthning in my eye - very strange, green lightning striking across the eye. It was very strange, I've never experienced anything like that before.
I've had some issues with my eyes in the past couple of years, I've actually had severe iritis four (4) times, and this was the original reason why the doctors started investigating my blood work, since iritis is fairly common in people with RA and related conditions.
That is also why I'm used to visiting the eye clinic at the hospital fairly soon, if I start developing any pain in either eye. That's what happened this weekend, so off to the hospital I went.
The diagnosis was not iritis, but vitreous detachment. Also, the is some internal bleeding going on in my eye, so I was told to go back immediately, if I start having any increased blurriness in my vision or pain - it may indicate retinal detachment. *Nice* So the only thing now is to wait to see whether the bleeding stops, or whether the condition gets worse. Anything can happen for the next four weeks...!
The Dr said this is not SS related, but after checking some online resources I read that it might actually be SS related: this condition is usually associated with aging, and since the SS patiens' eyes are so dry and the body is under constant stress from SS, our eyes may actually develop these age-related problems at a fairly young age.
Does anyone have any more information on this - is there any formal source of information/point of reference on whether this can be SS related?
