Schirmerin testi/Schirmer's test

Minulle on tehty ko testi kaksi kertaa. Ensimmäisellä kerralla tulos oli 5 ja 7 mm ja toisella kerralla 12 ja 8 mm, eli täysin "normaali kyyneltuotanto."

Silmälääkärini on kuitenkin huomauttanut äärimmäisen kuivista silmistä joka kerta siellä käydessäni, ja kuivat silmäni ovat jatkuvasti kipeät ja kirvelevät, ja tuo Schirmerin testikin itse asiassa tuntuu siltä, kuin silmiin kaadettaisiin happoa - ne paperit kirvelevät silmissä niin paljon, että viimeksikin jouduin pitämään silmät suljettuna 10 minuuttia testin päättymisen jälkeenkin. Aamuisin silmät ovat niin kuivat, että minulla menee 30-60 min joka aamu, ennenkuin alan edes näkemään kunnolla. Silmät ovat aivan sumussa ensimmäisen tunnin ajan.

Tehdäänkö Suomessa ollenkaan kuivien silmien arvioimiseksi sitä värjäyskoetta? Entä käytetäänkö muualla puudutustippoja silmissä ennen Schirmeriä? Minun klinikallani ei. En muista sen värjäyskokeen nimeä, mutta suoraan sanottuna oma luottamukseni tuon Schirmerin uskottavuuteen on kärsinyt melkoisen kolauksen, koska tiedän sen itse, että silmieni tilanne ei ole normaali, mutta tuossa kokeessa tulee aina päinvastainen tulos kovan kirvelyn ja sitä seuraavan vuotamisen vuoksi.

I've had the Schirmer's test done twice; first time the results were 5 and 7 mm, and the second time they were 12 and 8 mm, so my rheumy concluded the tear ducts work in a "perfectly normal manner".

Whenever I visit an ophtamologist, they always comment on my extremely dry eyes, and dry they are too - not to mention tired and burning, in fact the Schirmer's test always feels like someone's poured acid to my eyes -the nurse does not use an numbing drops here, so the exam is painful, at least for me. Last time I had to keep my eyes closed for 10 minutes after the papers were removed, but my eyes just hurt too bad. Every morning, when I wake up, it takes me about 30-60 minutes before my vision starts working properly, before that everything is just a blur for the first hour or so.

Has anyone else had their dry eyes examined using the tinting/colouring method (forgot the name)? If yes, how was it, is the experience any less painful than the Schirmer's?

My trust on the Schirmer's is not very high, and I know for a fact that my eyes are not normal, but then to water a lot during the test due to the extremely burning sensation caused by the paper strips. Very annoying.
